I can also check small commercial buildings, farm buildings, halls, and such if required.

• My full reports include inspection of the house’s sub-floor area covering foundations, plumbing support & condition, roof flashings & condition, down-pipes & gutters, ceiling spaces, section, and inside the home. Also fences, decks, driveways., and outbuildings associated with the dwelling as required.

• This covers plumbing, electrical, building materials, insulation, infestations or growths, drainage and safety aspects. I will advise if work does not meet the NZ Standard and if it has a permit, however I don’t cut holes and look inside a wall or dig holes in the garden, it’s just what I see and observe from non-invasive testing methods: Sight, smell & experience.

• I can advise on maintenance but I don’t provide quotes for work or carry out repairs myself as this could be seen as unethical.

WHO IS IAN AND WHAT DOES HE KNOW?

Ian has over 30 years experience in the building industry as a qualified plumber-gasfitter.
He has built three houses himself and been project manager on several building sites in New Zealand.

Ian worked for Expandite in the 1980’s where oversaw the supply of sealants, adhesives & fixings for the Ohaaki power project NZ, and in Australia on the Sydney harbour tunnel project.

In 1987 Ian saw the beginning of the polystyrene cladding era and the spray on glamatex coatings both on ceilings and on the outside of the buildings. He has very good knowledge and experience of all types of sealant use and water-tightness issues.

Ian is fully conversant with the local building code and requirements.
Ian is also respected for his professional attitude, helpful advice and friendly, prompt service whilst having checked over 500 houses in the past four years.
